Markdown Lens is a macOS application developed by John Decker Software. This privacy policy explains how we handle your information when you use our application.
Summary
Markdown Lens does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data. Your documents and files remain entirely on your device.
Information We Do Not Collect
Markdown Lens is designed with privacy as a priority. We do not collect:
- Personal information (name, email, etc.)
- Document contents or file names
- Usage analytics or tracking data
- Device identifiers
- Location information
Local Data Storage
Markdown Lens stores the following data locally on your device:
- Application preferences: Your settings such as theme preferences, extension toggles, and window positions are stored in macOS user defaults.
- Security-scoped bookmarks: When you grant access to folders for viewing embedded images, these permissions are stored locally to remember your choices.
This data never leaves your device and is not accessible to us.
Network Access
Markdown Lens may access the network only in the following situations:
- Remote images: If your Markdown documents reference images hosted on the internet (https:// URLs), the app will fetch those images for display.
- In-App Purchases: If you choose to support development, Apple's App Store handles the transaction. We do not receive or store any payment information.
In-App Purchases
Markdown Lens offers an optional "Support Development" purchase. All payment processing is handled entirely by Apple through the App Store. We do not have access to your payment information, Apple ID, or any financial data. Please refer to Apple's Privacy Policy for information about how Apple handles App Store transactions.
Children's Privacy
Markdown Lens does not knowingly collect any information from children under 13 years of age. Since we do not collect any personal information from any users, this applies equally to all age groups.
Third-Party Services
Markdown Lens does not integrate with any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services.
Data Security
Since Markdown Lens does not collect or transmit your data, your information remains under your control on your own device, protected by macOS security features including the App Sandbox.
